DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en:Inspector Sanjit is the central character in Arne
  Drews’s Nepal-set crime novels. Dr Drews is also the founder of the or
 ganisation Nepalmed\, based in Grimma\, and serves as its chairman. For 2
 5 years\, Nepalmed has been working through various projects to develop a
 nd improve medical facilities and to train medical staff in Nepal. The fo
 cus is on providing sustainable aid that benefits local people in the lon
 g term. The organisation cooperates with hospitals in Kathmandu and works
  closely with local partners to strengthen healthcare provision\, particu
 larly in remote and disadvantaged areas such as Gorkha and Solukhumbu. Ar
 ne Drews’ experiences at Ammipal Hospital and with the government autho
 rities in Gorkha have inspired him to explore these themes in short crime
  novels. These have been published by Edition Nepalmed since 2017. Nine b
 ooks have now been printed\, and a tenth is due to be published later thi
 s year. All proceeds from sales go directly to Nepalmed’s projects. The
  books have since been translated into English and Spanish. The first nov
 el in this series won third prize at the New Zealand Mountain Film and Bo
 ok Festival in 2018. Barbara and Michael Reiser have been undertaking reg
 ular trekking tours in the Himalayas since 2006. Twenty years ago\, they 
 returned to Nepal from Tibet via the Zhangmu border crossing. This is sit
 uated in the neighbouring valley to the area affected by flooding this ye
 ar. The border crossing was so severely damaged in the 2015 earthquake th
 at it remained closed to foreigners. The epicentre of the earthquake was 
 in Ghorkha. At the time\, Nepalmed provided funding to help the destroyed
  villages build up a tourism infrastructure\, particularly for the Ghorkh
 a Heritage Trek. The Reisers have completed this trek twice and have gain
 ed unforgettable impressions of this magnificent landscape and its charmi
 ng inhabitants. They would like to share their experiences at the Kulturf
 abrik on 17 September 2026 at 6.00 pm. Admission is free. There will be a
  sale of the novels featuring Inspector Sanjit’s cases. All proceeds fr
 om sales and all donations will be used in full to fund Nepalmed’s proj
